wolverine 350 twelve year old?
#2
I'm a big proponent of the "hybrid" concept (4X4 sport quad like "old" Wolverine tried to be!), but the 350 just doesn't make much sense. I really don't see the point in this machine, except to provide the dumed down public who can't manage to shift, with a less expensive 2wd option to the Wolverine 450!
To start out, wet it is a 500 pound pig...so why do we want to put a 90 pound kid on that? Weight is sometimes the price you have to pay to get 4wd, but this thing is 2wd and all that weight just doesn't have any function...it is just a very uncreative design, intended to meet a price point. Plus, you get that old school 350 engine. Sure it is reliable, but Yamaha needs to retire this old thing and come up with something lighter and with 400 cc's.
A 312 pound Raptor 250 is the ticket! If you need higher ground clearance and shaft drive (mud and water), then a 350 pound Honda 250EX.

my brother is twelve and has a 250ex that he can handle perfect he also rides my kfx 700 but anyone can ride one of those throw and gear and go, and my honda fourtrax 300 4wd just fine. It mostly depends how experienced the 12 yr old is?

Maybe the 350 wolverine is the older model w/ 4x4? Not the newer (05+) 350 2wd??
On the flip side Recon, I do agree the 05+ 350 wolverine is silly...but somoene must be buying it if they are making it.
As far as is it too big? It all depends on the riders skill and ability more then age IMO.
My sister in law is 14 and she rides a 400ex. She probably weighs 100lbs soaking wet....all depends on skill and maturity.
