Need Help buying an ATV
#1
Ok im buying a new ATV pretty soon and im not totally sure what to get, I currently have a yamaha Blaster 200 but i need more power! this is my first quad so i dont really know what to get for my 2nd but I have narrowed it down, i was thinking either Predator 500, YFZ 450, or maybe LTR 450.I want a quad that is good for trails(not great but decent) and that has good hp, high speed, and great on tracks.(also with reverse) I have a slight idea of each of these ATVs nd there pros and cond.
Predator
Pros
Higher Horsepower
Greater Speed
Great for trails
Cons
Lower Acceleration
Front heavy
YFZ 450
Pros
Great Acceleration
Great Racer
Cons
Not so much a trail
a little lower on the mph & horsepower
and I honestly dont know that much about the LTR
If anyone has any other suggestions please tell me.
and also i will be buying this quad used so keep in mind any possible mods already installed
Thanks

I'm not sure what type of terrain you ride, could you provide some info?
The LT-R is a great track quad. I (will) use it mostly on wider trails around my cottage (sand trails). Watching videos of it drive around it's really quick, and it has a really low center of gravity. I've watched it beat a 2006 Ford Mustang GT in a 1/4 mile race.

well your right i like trails but i dont just do that, i have a few acres of woods in my back yard so i can makem as i wantem but at the same time i want to be able to smoke my friends in a race and be able to blast it on the road. and there is a spot like right next to my house that has both , some sweet trail and at the end of the trails theres some sweet tracks that i love to ride
i want a good one for both
which won would win in a 1/2mile race?
which won would make it up the hill quicker?
Thanks guys

If you really do ride on kinda every terrain, I would agree with scrambler that a YFZ would probably suit your needs best. You might find the LT-R to be a little bit too wide on those tight wood trails.
And yeah scrambler, haven't gotten it yet . What's holding it up is that my trade in (Baja 90) had a broken sprocket internally because I never bothered to tighten up the chain, so the whole engine had to bet taken apart. Currently, the new sprocket is waiting to be installed, so hopefully we will get it in sometime this weekend if not week. So I should have the LT-R by the end of next weekend!

The LT-R will have better acceleration than the YFZ because of it's gearing and 18" rears verses the YFZ's 20" tires. I personally think the Pred. 500 really shows it's capabilities in the desert. The YFZ would be you best choice out of the 3.
