I would highly recommend finding a couple of used, name brand quads. You get what you pay for with these. I know people that have had good luck with the off brands and I know a lot more people that have had bad luck from day one. If something breaks, chances of finding a replacement part is slim to none.

Avoid all these "no name" brands!!! I know lots of folks who got sucked in by a low price, but lived to regret it. Learn from their mistakes....don't repeat them!

Find a used Honda Recon and a 90, and you should be riding trouble free with a smile on your face for years to come! If you think a 90 is to small for him, then a Rancher for you and a Recon for him.

My buddy has one, he is sick of it. He's had trouble with the starter on his. He's on his 2nd or 3rd starter for it. He said if you ride in the yard with it you might be ok, but it will not take a trail ride, they just fall apart. He is looking at a used polaris or LT 80 for his kid now.

I don't think all Chinese quads are bad.... the majority of them are though! Baja Motorsports makes decent ones, I learnt to ride last summer on a 90cc Baja Wilderness, no problems at all, and parts are regularly avaliable.

If you don't go with Baja or another one of the more well known chinese brands (ex Jetmoto), then I would just do what everyone else on the forum says and get some used name brands.

Don't forget Kawasaki too. Both of the quads in the OP look REALLY cheesey to me. The word "disposable" comes to mind.

Name brands Are for people who can't take care of their own vehicles and need the dealer support for mechanical repair other than that I've seen lots of satisfied customers on chinese made "pos's" and I noticed a couple bashan's on Ebay for cheap those have lots of good reviews <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-Bashan-200cc-Quad-ATV-4-Wheeler-red_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a2 Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3 a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem 170303463676QQitemZ170303463676QQptZATVs

</a>

replace the broken parts when and If you get them and these chinese atv's aren't to bad if you find the right brand like vbike, and jetmoto, as a couple examples do your homework and take care of that machine.

oh yeah and parts for alot of these are so easy to find you just have to know where to look at what to look for
