Default Suzuki King Quad 400 v. 450

I am looking for my first atv and like both of these. I will use it to ride trails with my son and may eventually get a snow plow for my driveway. The 450 is about 1,300 more. From what I can tell you get EFI, IRS, liquid cooling. Is it really worth the money for this?? Any other important differences?

The 400 is basically an Eiger with a different look. It has been around for about 6 years, and a great quad. I'd say if money is an issue, get the 400. Mine does great plowing, its a bit cold blooded so I have to run with the choke on for a bit in cold weather. The EFI should start right up and go. IRS is awesome for soaking up bumps on the trail, I have a solid axle ATV and a IRS, and the IRS is the best choice for bumpy trails. I'm not too familiar with the 450, but the 400 is a great quad, the crap I've put that through and it still goes and goes.

Yeah, what Rancher said.

The 400 is a proven design - basically new plastic on the Eiger which has been around since 2002. The Eiger / KQ400 is a solid reliable bike that won almost allit's shootouts for several years.

The KQ 450 is a KQ 750 with a smaller engine, everything else is the same. A more modern design with IRS and EFI - both are nice to have. Definately worth the extra $1,300, but either is good for plowing and trail riding so it your call and your budget. Since Suzuki just came out with the KQ500, I'm wondering if the 450 will still be available after this year.

I like EFI and will never give up IRS. I think it's worth the difference. Besides, the 400 is only 376cc and the 450 is 454cc, 78cc bigger.
