is there a 500cc atv out there that is built like a tank?

Polaris....good power.....rides great. Plenty big enough especially the new ones. Honda and Yamaha's are good too. Jaybeecon55 speaks wisely.

Anything newer is going to be good. From my experience riding all sorts of different brands, the Polaris have the smoothest and plushest ride. It is the heaviest but the plushest. I wouldn't worry about anything with polaris except for tearing CV boots, an unavoidable downside to IRS. Good luck with whatever you buy.
