This weekend I am going to go look at a used 2004 Polaris Sportman 700 non efi that is for sale privately.

What things should I be looking for? Any warning signs?

Also is it a good deal? 2004 700 carb. 1300 miles comes with winch and plow for $3750?

 

Price looks good. Call your local dealer with the VIN to see if there are updates or if they have record of repairs. Sometimes when you service ata dealer they will update their computers.

Really inspect undrneath and take off all the panels to check for areas that may have been flooded(underwater). Check the CV boots for tears.Make sure the wiring looks good everywhere. Pull the air cleaner to see how clean and to check if maintenace has been done.

 

That price may be a little steep kbb says $2855 and the plow certainly does not cost $900 so if it's in good shape offer him like $3100

 

Maybe it depends where you are at, but NADA for MN shows 2004 700 twin with a winch in average condition as $3885 that does not include the plow. Also, it depends what is availible in your area. If there are not very many for sale the price can be affected as well. Good luck.

 

have your local police department or sheriffs office run the VIN number in NCIC to make sure its not stolen.. lots of peps don't and latter get burned
