i would considre a polaris. they are nice. just do NOT get chineese!!! they may seem like they're good, but they break

 

yeah u could find a really nice z400 only a few years old for 3500$. I would also agree that the z400 would be a good pick, it has plenty of power and is nimble on the trails. I have an old 300ex which i ride on some trails. The thing i would change about the honda 300ex and 400ex is the air cooling, mine likes to overheat pretty quickly. So the liquid cooled z400 is perfect. Also, the z400s competition obviosly like it too, because more than 1 big name manufacturer slapped their name on the z400 and sold it as their own, cough *kawasaki and artic cat* cough
