Polaris Sportsman 500
Possibly looking at purchasing a clean and like new 1999 Sportsman 500. It has 213 miles and 50 hours. Any common issues with this machine that I need to know about before I go ahead and buy it? I thought I had heard something about a camshaft issue? Any info is much appreciated. Thanks

They are said to have a Soft cam lobe before the 2001 High duration Cam was introduced.
My Dad has a 1997 Sportsman 500 with over 7000 miles with out a cam problem, but we change the oil every 50 hrs and only use Pure synthetic 0w-40. Also change the Hub fluids once in a while its a quick simple job that will save you problems in the long run.
My 2001 is the same as a 1999 just with a 40mm carb vs a 34mm and the High duration cam and it has 3600 miles on it with no major problems. Here is some owner reviews on it. Vehicle Reviews for 1999 Polaris Sportsman 500
