Are Polaris designers that stupid?

All other negative comments aside, I just think it demonstrates very poor design principles. If a vehicle had no other gauges, common sense tells me I would at least want one to tell me if I needed more gas.

GO BACK TO YOUR DEALER, GET THE GAUGE ($15.00)
THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM IF YOU WANT A GAS GAUGE GO GET IT
(YOU DIDN"T THINK OF IT WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT DID YOU?)I just think that demonstrates very poor principles. If a vehicle had no other gauges, COMMON SENCE tells me YOU it would at least want one to tell YOU if it needed more gas.

You guys are calling Polaris designers stupid? Polaris was the first to make an automatic and put IRS on a quad. They have pushed the others to make the quads that consumers want.
If Polaris designers are stupid then Honda designers are insane for putting drum brakes on their quads.

I have a Sportsman 500.and I guess I will have to geta gas gauge..I ran out of gas the other day...The guy with me was on a 350 Honda ,standard shift..he still had over a half tank when I had to go to reserve...But I had two people on my bike...but it it still seemed like a big difference..My bike just died going up a hill then wouldn't start even on reserve..We towed it to a camp then tried it later and after alot of cranking it started..

A buddy of mine is a Polaris dealer and he said the gas guage is just like a lawn mower's with a cork and it doesn't even work right anyway, as do lawnmowers gas cap guage. Not taking anything away from Polaris though, all bikes have their negatives and Polaris invented the atv belt and I like their new baked on camo decal instead of paint, that doesn't scratch off. I would never have a painted atv.

Another thing I don't like is that the engine brake only works on the back wheels..because the front wheels don't lock unless the back wheels slip..This is bad for going down steep hills..the back wheels tend to lock up..makes it tricky..
I noticed the guy I ride with Honda 350 never had this happen..But I was using the back brake and likely should have used the hand brake as this works on all four wheels..This was confirmed by the mechanic at the dealership..
I also had oil in my air breather box ..He said this is caused by 1 having it over filled or 2 tipping it on it's side..I was in a coulpe of spots where it was leaning quite far but nothing that I thought was that bad...Anyone else have this happen..
