Hello, I am new to the world of ATV's. I was wondering what people would suggest for a new rider. I am 5'10 and about 155lbs. I kind of like the looks of the recon and the price range

In that size range - 250cc sport/utility:

Honda Recon (or Recon ES). Been around for a few years, fun and easy to ride. Very reliable. The clear leader in this class until this year.

Suzuki Ozark. New model for this year. Much like the Recon only just a little better in most areas. ATV Action just did a shootout with the Ozark, Recon and Beartracker and rated the Ozark as the clear winner.

Those are the two best. Both go for $3,499.

You are a smaller Rider so the Honda, YAMAHA,and Suzuki would be a good choices.

As a first time rider I think a YAMAHA Blaster would be a great first choice as a FUN ride.

It has nice power (2 STROKE power) and Handleing. It is very lite so very easy to Jump and Throw around.

If you are looking for something very easy ride,Auto trans, and Single lever brakeing look at the Polaris

Trailblazer. If you only plan to Trail Ride it will be great,They are Very Heavy but Wide, Long, and Stable.

Being that they are big heavy bikes they are not a good bike to JUMP and Throw around. The Polaris also has

a very nice price tag of $2900.00 ($3200 out the door)

i've ridden a recon and wasn't impressed. Rough ride, way too much vibration, and the reverse engagement procedure was ridiculous. The Suzuki Quadrunner 250 was a superior machine with independent suspension, hi/lo range, and a sensible reverse lever.
