Looking For A Recreational ATV
This past weekend I rode my buddy's Yamaha Wolverine and loved it!
The 350cc was plenty of ATV for me. The only thing I didn't like was the manual shift I want an automatic.
I've been looking at Hondas, Yamahas, Polaris, Suzuki's, but can decide on one.
I plan on being just a recreational ATV rider and suggestion on which model would be good for me?
I like the following:
Honda's - Rincon, Rubicon, the new FourTrax Rancher AT
Yamaha's - Kodiak 450 4x4 auto, Grizzly 660
Polaris - sp500
Suzuki - Vinson 500 4x4 auto

Kodiak 400 or 450....No doubt.
The Kodiak 400 Ultramatic is the most reliable automatic quad made by any manufacturer. Check one out.
Power is great and has the best clutch engagment of the auto quads in my opinion.
I can't speak for the reliability of the 450 yet, as it's a new model, but it's based from the 400s design.

There is nothing wrong with Arctic Cat.I have had my cat sinse march and I have had no problems that were not my fault.Mechanically they are a very reliable machine, they have a very smooth ride(something I can't say about Honda Foremans, personal experience). As for the speed who needs speed in a recreational quad. When on trails you don't need it.I have ridden most brands of atv's and I went with AC because it was the best suited for my needs. My advice to you is go out and test all the different brands in the class that you want and go with what you like.Don't take advice from someone who is brand loyal, they will almost always give you advice that may be misleading.Good luck on your quest.Vince

Well said vhcat, sound advice from an owner.
Opinions are like A$$ holes
Everyone has one and they often stink.
Go do some test rides. At least sit on some to see if you like them comfort wise.
I am sure AC are good machines, Most of there powertrains come straight from Suzuki.

What do you plan to do with you atv, Do you need an all out Utility (Do you plan to Tow,Plow, Hunt)
Do you want 4x4?If you don't need a true utility You might look at the Polaris Scrambler line-up. I would consider the scrambler a Sport-Utility (4x4 is available)
Kind of gives you the best of both worlds (master of none)
