Default atv for tight woods

Hi,

I need an atv for riding in the tight woods on my property. I will be using it for play/working on the trails, and some grounds maintenance. My trails are very tight, I keep them this way on purpose for my dirtbike(i race enduros), I currently have a 1980 atc 110 that just barely fits on some of my trails, i can't even take it on one of the loops its so tight.

I am looking to upgrade to something with more power, reverse, and suspension. 4x4 would be nice, but not mandatory. the most important thing is size, I need it to be as small as possible so i don't blow my trail wide open. There is a bombadier dealer in my town, the rally looks like it may fit the bill, some of the posts in here make it sound as if it doesn't have the low speed torque I would like. The kodiak 400's sound like a nice machine too, and with the high/low range they should have the power.

my current machine is designed for kids, but it pulls my 6'4" 220lb butt around pretty good! I was wondering if there were any other kid models or small runabouts I should be looking at? I would want it have racks and a hitch.

my 3 wheeler is about 38" wide at the tires so I wouldn't want to go much over that, that is why the rally and the kodiak are appealing to me.

thanks in advance

First, it sounds like you are looking for a utility machine??? Take a look at the Honda Rancher 350. The 2X4 in particular (with the right tires), handles every bit as good as many sport bikes. And, it is 100 lbs lighter than most of the bikes in its class!!! It's the just enough, but not to much machine in my mind. There is an automatic 400 version coming out soon.

The really great tight trail machines like the 300EX, Recon, 250EX, Ozark, etc., are unfortunately kind of small for you!!

I think that even the smallest atv out there will be the same or wider that your 110. Something to take into concideration is the turning radius. I have yet to see a 4wheeler turn as sharp as a 3wheeler. I'm not sure it that will be a problem but it could be.

P.S Before buying make sure you measure the 110 so you have something to go by.

Good luck.

Well after checking out pretty well all different atv makers here's what I found

All these measurements are the width:
===========================
Suzuki Osark 41.9in
Yamaha Bear Tracker 40.4in
Arctic Cat 45in
Honda Recon 40.7in
Kawasaki Bayou 250 4.1in
Bombardier Rally 41.5in

These are pretty well the smallest atv's with rack on the market.

Good Luck
Marc

I don't know anything about the ralley. The Ozark is tops in its class right now. The Ozark is a 5 speed and does not have a high/low range.
