If it is done under warranty, they would have used OEM. Brake pads are rarely a warranty item and can be replaced with whatever you are willing to pay for in that case. If the replacements last as long, you would have been better off doing that job yourself and putting something decent on it. I don't see how a set of quality, correct brake pads could possibly cause caliper failure without some liberal application of neglect.

We go through some pretty awful stuff up here. Mud, sand, snow, rain, water, etc. But, I know Beergut takes care of his quad as far as cleaning goes. He makes them look like showroom clean when he does it. He probably would have done it himself except that he has next to no time to do it these days.

exactly what moose said.

just like in your car- if you keep using the brake after the pad is gone- you'll destroy the calipers not before long. the dealer will 100% of the time use factory (or factory approved) parts for warranty work- if you / they use an aftermarket part, it voids the warranty- says it right in the fine print.

I come with great news however... follow this link for an update to this thread.

Actually, you will destroy the rotors before the calipers, and that would be the neglect I am talking about. That metal on metal sound should speak volumes. I have seen a Japanese model that was ran like that, eventually the piston pushed out far enough it wouldn't seal and all the brake fluid leaked out. Caliper was fine though after a good cleaning. Glad you got some good news on it, I guess you will need some OEM metallic pads then

definitely going back to metallic pads- I never had an issue with the little chatter they made when applied.... on the rare occasion when I used the brakes

Yes the pads on the 2013s are soft,,,, about ten of us got them around the same time, and we all had to change them at 1000 to 1500 ks. We were not impressed at all, Dealer was vary aware. And had many sets in stock.....

Like a car I think pads and tires are not ever coved by warranty.
Tires have there own separate warranty at least.

Wipe the pads out enough to destroy the Rotors or calipers and I,m not sure what would happen.

BRP will warranty your 2012-2014 OEM organic pads if you have less than 300 miles on them- and replace them with the metallic pads if you ask for them.
