Default Exhaust glowing red

I was drag racing at Sandlake last Friday night (1st bowl), and after several runs, I noticed my header glowing orange/red where it comes out of the engine. My DS is completely stock, except for paddles, so I didn't expect to have any problems. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to fix it? BTW, I beat the new Kawasaki 700 no problem.

Some people would say that is a lean condition but some would say that it is normal. I would just check your plug color and as long as it is not white i would'nt worry.

I agree check your plugs and as long as you don't have back firing then it is ok.

Also, this is normal as long as your bike isn't over heating. If you ever looked at headers on a car they will glow at night too.

What do you expect ... the DS is one HOT machine! It is built to run.

I had the same problem, and it turns out that the floats were off, and fuel was being dumped into my header and igniting (that's what someone told me). you might want to check your floats.

Stainless steel holds heat in more than any other metal. It is normal for it to glow red if heated for a long time. every yzf426 i have ever owned has had the pipe glow red and never had any problems. Just check your plugs to be on the safe sie though
