Default Do I really need to hone the cylinder

I sent the cylinder to Eric mr hp [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
It getting honed.

punisher, why do you say not to do it with a drill, i've always done that one rebuilds of all my other stuff, but those all had steel sleaves,

I was wondering the same thing. Why not use the drill style hone. I was thinking about purchasing but not if they are crap.

if you confidently and succefully have honed steel sleeved cylinders by hand with a drill, you can do the DS too - the nicasil is super hard.
me personally, being a stickler for perfection, would go the route of the machine hone instead though, but I wouldn't look down on anybody doing it by hand either.

i was told it is a different hone than a steel hone, i believe he said they are really fine stones. i pulled a cylinder last week and can't tell that it needed to be honed still has the last hone lines.

Yes, you need to hone. Use a bottle brush or ball hone to hone the cylinder.

USE A HONE!!! I didn't and now I get white smoke upon startup.....
