Default Header glowing red!

My DS is completely stock with the exception of paddles and DuneTrackers. After several trips up the bowl at Sandlake, I noticed my header was glowing red (it was dark out). This was a little disconcerting, but the bike was running great (beat a V-Force and a slightly modded Predator), so I just let it cool down a bit and kept riding. After that I would only race up the bowl 3-4 times before letting it cool down. Is it normal for this to happem? I was running hard, but so was my buddies Banshee and he has no problem whatsoever. Any insight would be appreciated. I didn't expect to encounter this problem until I started modifying things.

im pretty sure thats a fairly normal thing on the DS's...hasn't happened to mine but i have heard alot of other people mention it happened to them. Personally i'd say don't worry about it. I also think the pipe glows because it is not coated with anything ex chrome or powercoat

none of my bikes ever have, other people will say its normal, but improper jetting will cause it. if your dealer has it jetted for an altitude other than where you were riding, this can be the culprit.

i've seen that in the garage at night with the stock pipe, you might want to check your jetting at sea level you might be a little lean with stock. was your fan running?

Yes, the fan was running. I'll ask Gary about the jetting. That was my first thought when I saw it, but I wanted to check with the group before going to Gary and sounding paranoid.

Ive only ridden mine a few times in the dark and its 100% bone stock. It glows red every time. It scared me the first time. I thought the jetting was way off but ive never messed with it. My fan never kicked in at all though.

Mine does too (Raptor, though) with a Yosh full comp system. Anyone I have asked has said it is normal. I think it is the stainless header. Just IMHO
