Alone in the middle of nowhere, DS won't run...

I bet a dollar, yes a dollar that a SMALL piece of dirt or crap went through your fuel line and got stuck in your carb and passed through. No big deal, put on a fuel filter if it bothers you. Run it around a little and if it runs fine that was for sure your prob. like i said buy a fuel filter for like 50 cents and your good to go.

Check your gas tank vent (remove your gas cap and blow in your gas tank vent hose. . . sounds like it may have become pinched!)

your Polit jet is VERY small, and any grain of dirt/sand can stop it completely up. As you know your pilot jet control idle to 1/4 throttle so its possible after you "started, revved, dumped the clutch and rode home it finally passed through your carb.
Take all of these guys advise and check out EVERYTHING they mentioned,(even if its not the problem) cause PREventive maintianance is what will keep you riding, when everyone else is working on their stuff.

If the fuel vent line is pinched you should be able to figure it out in about 15 seconds by removing the cap and blowing into the vent line. If you were at WOT and it died then wouldn't start for a while then it would but wouldn't idle could be that enough air got into your tank to allow some fuel to the carb but, not enough air to really allow you to run. Again, impossible to figure out over the forums.
Also, as bigger said. . . pull your jets. I have a TM45 and the pilot jet was all gummed up (still don't know why - only run pump or race gas). Needless to say, it fired right up after that!

When putting my motor back in once I pinched the vent line. That monstrosity of hose that wraps around the tank under the plastic. It would die. Buy a gas cap with a vent on top. Other than that it sounds like trash in gas to me. Just cut your gas line and insert a fuel filter.

Alright, to reach the fuel vent line, I need to take off the tank right? Or like lift it up?
Where can I find a cheap vented cap?, or can I modify mine?
Thanks Again guys.

To reach the tank vent line you have to remove the tank shroud but not the tank.
You can purchase a vented cap on E-bay. I know that Alba and R.I.S. also have them.
You can also modify your stock cap by drilling a hole in the center and cementing in a connector.
Installing a vented cap now avoids having to mess with the stock vent line until you have removed the shroud for some other reason.
After installing a vented cap, I cut the vent line short and sealed it.

Check to make sure your coils are tight. They could vibrate away from ground and it would give the same symptoms. Or you are not getting fuel. If the coils are slack it would also misfire and surge on top.
