My God I forgot to look.. Help...
I got the new seals for water pump but I forgot what direction they go.. Do the springs face each other? the they face the same direction to or away from the motor? or do they oppose each other??
I feel goofy.. I looked at the manual and the pic sucks, it looks like the springs oppose each other..

The springs should face the coolant. I have not looked at the assy but they seal the coolant pressure from the engine oil and atmosphere and the springs always face the pressure.
I hope that makes sense.
If you have seals on either side of the impeller, the spring side should face the impeller.
hope that helps

The seals face AWAY from each other. Spring on inner seal faces crankcase to stop oil from entering coolant. The outer seal has the spring facing you to keep coolant out of the oil.
It is also a good idea to put a small nail thru the weep hole after seating the inner seal to keep you from driving the outer seal in to far and closing off the weep hole, afterwards just pull the nail out. If you cover the weep hole, when the seal fails next time the coolant will have nowhere to go but into the crankcase.
