unfortunatly I have yet to rip into it good. I still plan to modify. I wonder if there is any kind of pcv problems. I will try and inform on the progress. Also thank's for all the tech info you have put into this forum,until I modify I won't be able to reciprocate. probably by end of summer,buying new house right now don't if i'm coming or going oh well

You shouldn't have any problems routing the vent tube somewhere else or putting a filter on it inside the air box. Bombardier probably put it there for convenience and emissions. That was one of the first things that American cars did to improve emissions, rout the vent tube to the air box and re-burn the unspent gasses. Unfortunately, that lowers your effective octane ratings, since invariably there is oil vapor in the fumes and oil has a lower burn rate.
I ran dual carbs on my Baja (have fun tuning and synching your carbs future Raptor owners!) and the air filter on one side had the crank vent tube running to it. This let two cylinders run with less power and caused some slight vibration and imperfect tuning. I ran a K&N filter and closed off the hole on the air filter for the carb and that solved it. It was barely noticeable, but who knows what the long-term effects would have been?
I haven't had time to tear into my DS yet, but I plan on putting a filter on it and maybe even routing it outside the air box, if the filter doesn't fit in there easily. You can use the K&N style, or just get one that fits from an auto parts store. You might find one that fits flush to the inside of the air box. These are usually foam, so they should stop sand and most dust.

thanks for the input, I forgot all about my buggy it has a completely seperate breather box from scat and it works great. It also has a set of 44 IDF's on both sides but syncing 4 carbs is still a job even with the right tools. I don't have any good scientific facts but the word at our local buggy is that UNI has a far superior filter for offroad, I run the UNI and a friend of mine runs K&N and usually if it is dry out he has to clean out his carbs at night he uses contact grease and K&N filter oil.(something to think about)

You guys should go for the best of both worlds on the Air Filter at least (you may find a similar part for the breather) if you use the 4" PVC trick which allows you to install a TRX250R K&N air filter on your DS650 then you can also buy the UNI foam filter that goes on the outside of it. You can't do much better than having both a UNI and K&N. Also, if you don't want to be cleaning the filter as much, just leave the outside of the UNI filter un-oiled and your 'in like flynn' as one of my co-workers would say.

Bombardier had an update that should have been sent to your dealer to correct this problem it involves rerouting the vent tube up into the snorkel tube of the air box and placing a hose clamp on it. Your dealer should have the exact details for you or reply to me and i'll get them for you.
