New and Improved DS650 for 2001!!!

First of all, RidE, you sometimes have some really good input, but cussing has the opposite effect of what you want. People tend to shut you out. In my enviroment that sort of language is acceptable, but in these forums you are dealing with all walks of life, from doctors and lawyers, to policemen, servicemen, construction workers, etc. That is one of the things that makes this sport great. Secondly, don't panic and sell your current mount just because something new is coming out. Do you have fun on you DS? If you have to have the newist and best you will be buying a new quad every year.

Well lets see it das 10 more cc`s, and reverse. Big deal! I had a scrambler with more suspensiom travel. As far as being faster than the DS that may be true but alot of that depends on the rider.
Besides who keeps these things stock anyway. Lest see after they start getting tricked out.
Personally I like the size of the DS. Ive ridden a 400ex and felt like I was going to fall of of it. Sounds to me like some people like to go with the hype. Im not as impressed with it as I thought I would be. It looks like a cannondale or 400ex with different plastic.

RidE, sounds to me like you've been smoking too much of that funny grass. Wait til tomorrow when your back on earth with everybody else and then post replies.
This is not for RidE(well, maybe it is). I just don't understand people talking about what's better before it even hits the floor or has been evaluated by them. It's people like that who are in congress trying to get ATV's banned. They haven't even ridden an ATV, but looking at the "numbers" of people who get injured each year, jump to poor conclusions. You can make certain assumptions by looking at the numbers, but we all know what the word *** out of U and ME means. I like numbers, but what if you have the most excellent bike in the whole world and it leaves you stranded every weekend. Not a very good bike in my judgement. Also, let's watch the races. That will tell you which bike performs best. It's not numbers alone, but how the numbers work together that matters.

I have to agree completely. Though, I tend to keep mine stock. That is why I bought the DS, with all of the "modifications" stock, instead of buying the 400EX that also felt small to me.
I guess that the Raptor is more in line with the little guys that wanna go fast. Which is fine. But, I am taller than 5'6" and weigh more than 150lbs so the DS fits me better than the 400EX does, no matter how I modify it.
With Lone Stars interest in the DS, we may see some serious weight savings with Chromolly a-arms, trailing arm, frame and other lightweight parts. Although, that kinda defeats the purpose of buying a stock quad in the first place. The frame on the DS is a work of art. I would be hard pressed to replace it, especially since it would probably cost $1,500. Then you add the cost of the a-arms and trailing arm and you are up to $2,500-3,000 or so.
