i just finished (i think...) changing the oil on the ds... i emptied the crank and the oil resevoir and replugged both. i put in a tad over 3 quarts (i also changed the oil filter) and now it WILL NOT START
i got it to pop (not backfire, but the cylinder would fire once or twice) but now my battery is getting low and it still wont start....
too much oil?
floooded?
im leaving thursday for silver lake sand dunes and if i dont get this fixed up by then i cant go..which would suck....

It probably something very simple.
First charge your battery, over night. then you will have plenty of time to take your plugs out,and clean them. Make sure they fire before you put them back in. Also make sure that your kill switch on your handle bar is ON(I've done that). After that thier would be no reason short of a possible CDI problem that would hender starting. But the CDI's are always very reliable.
Good luck.

i think i have a faulty kill switch.... because after i changed the plugs (which i beleive was the prob) it would fire but a few times even in the ON position it would not turn over... but if i flicked it to off then back to on it would.....

Roost, I have had that problem before. See if the carb poped out of the rubber boot when it poped. Also check and see if there is sand in the kill switch and it is not making a good conection. Good luck.
