Any one help with BIG problems on DS?????

Default Any one help with BIG problems on DS?????

I have a 2000 ds all stock the needle is on the 2nd clip up from the bottom and the air/fuel screw is 2-3 turns out and I need to know why it is backfiring through the carb wont idle right pops and mainly the header pipes are glowing cherry red. I only run 93 octane and the top end was just rebuilt for burnt exhaust valves. any help or advice would be most helpful

No dought your lean but have you checked for air leaks in the carb boot or intake. If your that lean thats where id start then go after the carb!!!

Even though the head was just rebuilt, I have heard of backfiring because the intake valves are too tight. Might be worth a check.

[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img] My friends ds has dual carbs and he cleaned out the carb had the same problems you mention. He missed cleaning the pilot jet. I told him to try that he removed pilot jet and found tiny pieces of dirt he blew it out with high pressure from power tank and magically it ran perfect.
