A friend of a friend wants to race for titles.... He has a stock YZF 450, says its the fastest quad on the market. I disagree. I dont know much about his quad but I cant imagine getting beat in the quarter mile by him. He knows mine isn't stock, but still wants to race. My stock 03 got spanked pretty bad in the sand by one with a GYT-r pipe. The stock ones were closer.

 

I raced 2 this weekend at the dunes on hills. Stock one without sand tires I beat by 2-3 bike lengths. The other one with sand paddles I beat by 1 bike length. I was giving up alot of weight to each driver. 100+ lbs. to both Yzf drivers plus the weight of the bikes.

 

You better be careful. Those YFZ450's are fast.

 

First of all I would never race anyone for titles, you never know if he is hiding something like nitrous.

Anyway, I have seen some fast ones. A friend has one with hmf pipe, cam mod, no lid on airbox and rejetted and up sand mtn in utah he beat me by a good 8-10 bike lengths. I gave up a good 100 pounds to him and I was on my banshee which is a little heavier also. Now he had no paddles, stock tires and I was running 21x12x8 9 paddle extreme haulers.

The other yfz that was racing with us had just a pipe and jetted, was about 2 bike lengths behind me.

These things can move pretty good. They seem to be real sensitive to jetting.

If I'm not mistaking doesn't the DS have a higher top speed than the YFZ. If that’s the case, you said you are racing in a quarter mile. As long as you don't give up to much distance, you should be able to take him. I could be wrong. 1/4 mile may not be enough time to take the win. It would be cool if you did beat him. I can't stand cocky people. It’s always nice to shut them up and take their quad at the same time.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

A stage 2 with should be able to hit approx. 80mph in a 1/4 mile. the Yfz should be topped out by the 1/8 mile so I would say Kick his A$$!!!!!

How much larger are you than your Buddy on the YFZ? make sure you take your rear plastic off,and tuck your knee's elbows,and head in ,and make yourself as small as you can.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

If his is stock, you should win with a stage 2..How far in Wisc, tell him I'll come up and race with my almost stock DS [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img] I have raced between 10-15 of them, none has beat me yet..
