might be way overfueling on the low RPM's and drowning the plugs so they won't fire. Does it start up fine or does it have to be pull started? When it dies you could pull a plug and see if its wet or not. Mine was doing that when it wasn't getting enough alky when it was idling, kind of wierd I thought.

After thinking about it more my wifes garden tractor has a 44 mm Boswell Mikuni alky carb on it and this summer after cleaning the carb it would not idle at anything under 300 rpm. I took the needle out of the Mikuni out of my dads Cub Cadet ,which is also set up for alky, and put in the Boswell carb and it ran fine but then my dads wouldn't idle. Reluctantly gave my dad his back and got a new one for my wifes Cub and it ran fine. Threw the old needle away. I have no idea why they would not run on that needle because it always had before but it wouldn't and that is how the voices began.

Just a guess. I would have never of thought it would do that but it did on one of our 44mm mikuni's. Doesn't take much to try a different one. Sounds like you did everything else so not much left On the first needle I had moved it to every notch and still did it. The other needle you could tell the differences in the needle height by the way it would rap . When I held the two needles together they appered to be the same couldn't tell any differences at all. Weird hence the voices. LOL
Almost forgot don't know if you got a slip on yet but there is a FMF power core 4 with a spark arrestor on ebay that ends pretty soon for $70. I have one of these on my gas DS and I think it runs better than it did with the white bros R4, and it is a LOT quieter. I don't think its loud at all has a nice low/deep tone. and its a LOT lighter than the other slip on. Everyone that has rode it thinks it has more power all the way through the powerband. Just a thought.
