Default Help, lots of smoke

I put the dot up on both the top two compression rings, gaps 180 apart, is this right. The two rings that go over and under the oil ring did not have marks so they could be wrong but i think they can go either way.

i had the same problem after installing my first rwr piston. the jerks don't both letting you know that you can't stack the way rotax says to, they(rwr) stack them different than the manual. call those jerk off's and ask for correct stacking for there piston. god that pisses me off!!!!!!!! i told them almost two years ago about this and you would think they could warn people.

The end gap is important.
Also the top ring is the comp ring. The next one down is the two peice total seal ring. If you did these in reverse order you prolly have a busted ring.

I called rwr fri and they told me what I did wrong, the one piece ring goes on top and the two piece ring goes in the middle with the gaps 180deg apart. I had them backwards. In the directions that came with them they said nothing about where they go, very confusing. Anyway, I took it all the way back down and switched the rings, which were still in perfect shape, thank God, slapped it back together and started her up, NO SMOKE YEA. I wish rwr would give better directions with their pistons.

Yo got off lucky. I knew what your prob was nly because I made the same mistake. But it cost me. I ended up having to re nickasil my cylinder and replace the rings. And get the stage 3 porting and stuff. oops, guess I did't HAVE to do that part

It would be nice if they would tell you what the ring end gap is supose to bve along with the stacking order. Cause if we NEW what questions to ask we would. But we don't allways know what to ask until it's to late.
