I agree Aprilia could make that quad. I doubt an ATV will see that 80+HP Vtwin though. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is about a doubling of anything else stock, ever. Cross your fingers and say your prayers....

I've been hearing about a 400-450 Bombardier from a family member that works at a dealership for about a year now.

I asked my Bomb source in Canada about the Aprilia motor being made by Aprilia, he smiled and said "just remember the Mille' Tuorno, and Futuro use the Rotax 1000cc V-twin motor and in their own spec's doesn't mention Rotax at all.

If they did develop this motor it will end up in a Bomb soon.

they wouldnt let me have the pics, there not spose to be relased, and i can tell you that theatv will be coming out around march-april the pics are spose to be lrelased jan 6 and i was told that yesterday

 

I used to work at a Boat dealership, we werre a Bombardier Marine Engine dealer as well. I got to know the rep very well, he is a quad rider. He told me, back in 2000 that they were developing a 2 stroke direct injected race quad,a s well as a 4 stroke model. That was 3 years ago.
The only people who really know are sure as hell not talking.

 

I talked to my dealer last week about the 400. They had just talked to their rep who said it was on hold indefinately. Probably due to the strength of the yammi and the honda. They weren't in the ballpark with it so they didn't want to embarass themselves.

 

I've heard similar info to what fourlix posted, that Bombardier was taken by surprise with the introductions of the YFZ and TRX450, and decided to go back to the drawing board for something that they feel will truly revitalize the ATV industry.

My (secret) sources tell me there has been much internal debate at Bombardier over whether they really want to make something to go head to head with the Yamaha and Honda, or go another direction. There is a big push from many within Bombardier to bring out a 400cc 2 cylinder 2 stroke Sport Quad, fuel injected, with an aluminum frame. The current RFI technology would enable such an engine to run clean enough to pass emission standards, and a lighter frame with good suspension would ensure that it would out perform the only current Sport 2 stroke currently in mass production, the Banshee. My (secret) sources tell me that Bombardier feels much more confident in their ability to dominate this market segment than they do in attempting to knock the YFZ and TRX450R off the top of the 4 stroke performance heap, and they feel they can do it at considerably less expense. One of Bombardier's priorities right now is to establish a "Halo" model that will attract attention to their entire lineup, they see this as a surer, more inexpensive means to achieve this goal.
