Default Outlander 400 ?'s

How does everyone like their Outlander's? How are they holding up? What are your likes/dislikes? Does the Outlander shift smoothly from high to low to reverse? Do the racks hold up when hauling items? Is it easy or hard to steer? Does the Yellow 400HO 4X4 Have the lower foot rest area in yellow or does it look like the 330HO?

i don't own one, but know someone who does. You can go around corners on pavement fast and the inside wheel doesn't even lift. (like his Sp700 does) it handles like a dream, power to question the money spent on big bores, and no problems yet, besides trying to get that stupid ATV of the Year decal off! lol.

If the Outlander 700 comes out It will RULE the Atv world, This I am certain of........................

They are testing a big bore now, could be a 650 single, 700 single, or most likely a 700 twin. It should be out in summer of 04.

Also look out for a nasty twin 450 sport racer based on the new Rotax engine designed for Aprilia.

My dealer told me he heard it from a good source. Also a friend in Canada basically said the same thing.

Are you sure about this 450? There is a post on here about that. What you said is different from the rest.

I'm very pleased with mine, it is a very impressive machine. Although I do have a few dislikes.

You sometimes have to rock the bike in order to shift from one gear to another.
I would like for it to have some type of lighted indicator showing what gear range your in (low or high) for night riding.
I don't like the on off head light switch being on the ignition switch.
It has the same anoying clanking noise as the 700sp but not near as bad.
I wish the gear shifter was just straight forward and backwards like the Polaris.
It would be alot better if the belt housing exhaust was routed toward the front like the Polaris.
It would be good if low was inline before high range.
Could use some more ground clearence.

Those are my dislikes and here are my likes.

Lots of power
Quick
Easy to steer
Great handleing
Super smooth ride
Bright head lights
nice little storage box
3 yr warranty
Very stable for an IRS
Pretty good brakes
Futuristic design
Did I mention it was Quick
It has a great engine brake and when in 4x4 mode it has four wheel engine braking
I like not having to sit and wait for the fan to go off just so you go do something else and not worry about having to come back and turn the key off. It will go off when it needs to, you don't have to have the key on.

I'm sure I have forgotten something, hope this helps.
If you buy one I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

I purchased mine in June 2003. The front axles have been replaced 5 times. I'm having a problem with the dealer and the Bomb Rep. They told me 27 inch tires would be okay and would not void the warranty. The John Deere dealer has fixed them under warranty every time, but it seems to me there may be a defective part.
