Cold weather starting
Anyone have any problems starting their DS in the cold climate? Im not sure if it has something to do with having rejetted the bike this summer. My friend has a 400ex that he rejetted, and he has the same problem now that he has rejetted it? I Completely ran my battery down trying to start it. Is there any tricks or tips? Should i rejet?

The leaner you run the harder it is to start. Hence the choke. Just be glad you don't run the FCR's like me. They have no choke. But then im in California and if it aint atleast 45+ outside...I aint either

I had to jump start mine last time I started it. It had been sitting for about a month, and it was only about 30 out. The battery was kind of weak, otherwise I think it would have started.
It was a real cold blooded SOB until I rejetted for my end cap. Cold starting got a lot better after that.
I should add that last time I had it running, it was only hard to start the first day. The next two days in the morning it started fine since the battery had more charge.

If you haven't checked your valve clearance lately, or ever, definitely do that. It's not that difficult to do and makes a world of difference if adjusted properly. On my 01 DS650, it took about 30 seconds of cranking with full choke before the valves were adjusted. After adjusting, it would fire at half choke no matter what the temperature was.
