When I orginally installed my carb mount filter I installed a small K&N type filter on the end of both lines.
I found out after some research that the clear tube is a vaccume line. The carb needs this vaccume as reference to help open the slide.
One of the Forum members helped me out with an adaptor he made.

The adaptor allows you to re-connect the vaccume line. After installing Glenn's adaptor I noticed a improvement in throttle response.

thanks azdunne.... factory it hooks in behind the air filter where i would think some kind of vacuum is present..it must need that to operate correctly or it would not have came that way from the factory .. i'll try it without ,and then i'll drill a hole inthe end of my carb mount filter and snap the tube into it with 2 90 deg fittings and see how i like that... any guys out there with fast bikes please put your 2 cents in on this subject.........thanks.....
