Help Ds 650 Problems Please
#1
I just bought a used 2001 DS 650 and I am having a problem with is stalling. After i ride for 30 minutes or so. It will stall when it comes to an idle and won't start. Once it sets for 2-5 minutes it will start and run ok. I allmost acts like it runs out off gas. Could it be the cold weather? 10 to 20 deg Thanks

There's a long skinny tube that allows air into the gas tank, if you take the tank cover off you may find it is pinched causing it to vapor lock.
The next time it does it just take the cap off or even leave it loose and see if it keeps running.

Have you tried using the choke when it stalls?
The idle circuit could be lean as it would be in temps as cold as you are riding in. If it starts right up with the choke try turning the mixture screw CCW about a half turn or so. This will richen the idle mixture enough to keep her running.
The mixture screw is on the bottom side of the carb, between the float bowl and the intake boot, pointing down. It can be hard to find.
Of course this is assuming you have a stock carb.
