Possible problems with my DS

Try raising your shift lever up a notch or two so your boot or shoe fit under the lever better, it might help. A slight bend outward on the lever may be necessary of course removed from the shaft and put in a vise with a little heat then place back on shaft to see that it clears your case.

In my case, when in the process of shifting into 3rd or 4th gear it makes it way to neutral. It is rare but most inconvenient time. Ill try the moving the shifter. It could be I am doing a lazy shift and it just don't make it to the gear??? Probably operator error.

I've heard people mention that the type of oil you use can seriously affect shifting on a DS, so what kind of oil are you guys using? I use Maxima I think it's like 20-50 which is pretty heavy but it works well. I'm not sure what I'll use when my 5 gallon drum runs out but I'm going to buy it in bulk again!

Thanks for all of your great input. It looks like there is at least a pretty good chance that I have something somewhat costly wrong with my bike (i.e. a bent shift fork or broken gear dogs). I must say that I am disappointed that this is the case. For six months before I bought my DS, I read about them on this forum and heard nothing but how "bulletproof" and "trouble-free" they are. To have this sort of problem at less than 10 hours is not what I expected at all. I absolutely do not want to get stuck with a big repair bill on a nearly brand new bike.
So, I guess what I need to do is try and have this problem dealt with by the dealer ASAP, before the Bombardier six month warranty is up. I would assume that the dealer is not going to be real eager to split the cases and take the transmission apart based upon the possibility of a problem. What has been your experiences in dealing with Bombardier and/or dealers relative to warranty work? If I convince them to do the tear down to check the shift fork and the rest of the transmission, and they find that this is NOT the problem, will I be liable for paying for this work? Any advice you guys can give me to get the dealer working to solve this for me would really be appreciated.

find out what their warranty is on repairs, & also tell them you think your machine is not shifting correctly and that you're concerned that you want it properly fixed before the ATV runs out of it's warranty period and that you need them to open the cases & ensure that everything is perfect in there. Make sure they know you're not planning on getting stuck with the repair bill for an ATV that developed a problem while under warranty period.

Shouldn't be a bent shift fork on your model year. They are a harder metal now. UNLESS you jump on your shifter. If that is the case don't expect warranty to cover it! I see too many people putting all their weight on the shifter to get it in gear. BAD IDEA!
