Default snowmoblie carbs

I was wondering if I could use a carb off a sled on my ds. The pilot screw is bugger in the stock carb. I can get them used for a desent price if they will work. What size and type should I look for. I can not afford a lectron so I hope I can use one of these. I can get vm44, 40. tm40 and others.

i was wondering the same myself, i can find these somewat cheap,
n i'd go with anything bigger than stock, haven't really seen many bigger than wats on the ds, except for the ski-doo 670 HO motors, those had 44's on it, i know my bros 700 has 40s on it

These snowmobiles are 2 stroke right? If they are I dont think you can tune those carbs for 4-strokes(atleast not on gas), cause 2-strokes carbs have a "power jet" that dumps almost twice the amount of fuel. It may be possible to tune it for your DS using Alky. cause running RICH on alky doesnt hurt performance that much at all. Plus you can always lean it down with alittle NITRO!!

Bigger.

I hear awful things about Lectron. The engraved number on the jets wears off quickly and you have no way of knowing what kind of jet is in the carb. Personally, I would stay away. I don't think it's worth the extra money when Keihen and Mikunis are so much cheaper.

(Just relaying info.)

I don't know about the vm, but the tm you should be able to get all the mikuni to make it run right. I often wonderd the same.

If you do use a carb off of a sled I would try a 2001 mxz 700, not a 600 becuase the 600 carb is smaller, let me know how it works.
