Default 1st/ 2nd gear starts...which is faster?

A question along similair lines.......... when gearing down to use second to start in, do you change the front or the rear? I have gotten conflicting information about how to get the most from my now stock DS. Any help please.

Changing the front is SUPER SIMPLE! You can go to a 14 without going to a different chain. Changing the rear is a little more work but can be done faily easily.

I'll vote with the Majority on this when on sand, 14 tooth front ($15), add a set RW 60% clutch spring ($25), use 22" extremes. Start Second and hang on.....

you can go 42 on the rear with aa 15 front, use the stock chain and save a pound of weight, plus it is rotating mass. this combo works nice. but the 42 rear sprocket wont last as long as a steel stock one.
