Shims for Under Buckets....questions
#1
I got shim under buckets and my exhaust vavles have a clearance of .012-.013. I was told by Gary at TVI that they are NOT a Bombardier part, more or less a Kawasaki item. I think the spec is for .006. Anyone know where I can get them? How much would they be? I don't want to spring for a whole set, I would prefer just to get the two that I need for the exhaust valves and get this sucker running. Hopefully I can fire her up this weekend. Prob won't be completely done for another week after that.

measure the diameter of the puck and start calling around, my local Kawi dealer had em on the shelf. Personally I set my intakes at .006" and my exhaust at .008"- I've seen my valve clearance get tight after a few months so I add a hair to keep it easy to start.

Thanks Major, I'll see if there is a local Kawi dealer. If not I'll ask Gary at TVI to send me a set...
Hopefully soon I'll get this machine goin.. seems like an eternity to get it going.

Are the shims from the shim under bucket setup the same size (diameter) as the stock shims?
If I under stand the shim under bucket correctly, its the same spring setup except for the shim retainer, on the stock system the shims rest on top of the retainer and on the shim under bucket, the shims go under the retainer. Is that correct?

The Shims over here are a PAIN to find. I'm fed up with blowing my day driving around the state in search for the shims. I'm took feeler gauge to see what the tolerances are at the the exhaust valves rear .013 and .015. Going to order from Gary on Monday and see if I can get it ASAP. Next weekend hopefully I'll get this beast rolling.
