Default Horsepower Research 730!!!!!!!!

ScoobyDFW: They were running their Horsepower Research CDI. You can have the rev limit set @ what you want, mine was set @ 8300. Now everyone should know that they used my head and TVI cylinder, not their own. With that being said, they don't want to push parts that they did not build which is why my limit is set to 8300. If you get their complete kit you could go to a higher rev limit with even better HP and Torque #s [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

No need to rev to 10,000. Your torque drops off at about 7000-7500. Why do you want to rev any further?

On a side note, did someone say torque and HP were supposed to cross at 5252 RPM or something? Is there any rule here? Trying to understand more about this stuff.

You have about 52.52 Foot lbs of torque at 6500 RPM / 5252 = 65 HP

52.52X6500/5252=65 HP

Looks right on!

Scary. . . I think I may be getting this!

Do you have larger valves? I mentioned your specs to my buddy and he insists you have larger valves.

Oh I feel like an idiot now... Dyno sheets always were a little cyptic to me.

I guess my buddy is right then. I need larger valves in my bike down the road. It's never ending is it....

If you and your buddy are about the same wieght you'll put prolly a bike length on him anyway. The Punishers 720 would beat my stage 3 with a 220 or less weight rider it. Now with Tony on it...well, that a diff outcome [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

rider ability plays a big part guys, plus tires and gearing. and it doesn't sound like either of the machines are a true engine from either builder, maybe i'm wrong on this. but i know punishers head was not a tvi. and if the cylinder isn't a mr hp that he couldn't push as far as he wanted, that isn't a true engine from him. the engines and true horsepower are great, ask the 760 guys the price difference is a lot and the preformance is very simlar

Good point. The 720's are right with the 760's as far as I can tell on power.

I've never ridden a 720 so, I'm very interested in how the power feels. The old 680 vs. the 760 is amazing. My little quad trailer has side rails that swing down to the ground and act as a ramp. It is pretty steep but, just loading it when it was first assembled and fired (had sand tires so, didn't have ride time) I could feel the torque of the monster.

I really like the idea of the cast 730 jug. I would like to hear / see someone with that jug and some ride time to see how it holds up. I don't like the idea of sleeving the stock jug but, there are many that have had great performance with that set-up.

THe only thing that bugs me and I can see myself tearing into my motor soon is that I don't think I have have a high compression piston in my DS. The piston is very flat on top. I would really like to have 11:5 compression at the very least. 12:5.1 is fine too.

With MR HPs setup it seems like a good bang for the buck.


Don't get me wrong my DS fells strong tires seem to pick up a bit easier. I rode int he sand with knobbies not paddles (was breakin her in) so I'm not sure how easy it is to lift.

I weight about 10 pounds or less then my Stage III buddy but I am taller than him. He is a good dragger, he lives for drag racing.
