that's what i'm saying, mine comes up nice even with the 4 inch swingarm ext. if you got the 109 cams you did lose some bottom but you gained a lot of top.

ANNIHILATER,
I did lower the needle (left to lean as Eric/Mr HP told me). It seemed to run like crap, throttle response was terrible and I heard a pop or two (sounding like it's lean). Eric did say there may be a bog when it's cold... but once it's up and running it goes away. I will lean it out one more turn at a time and see what gives. Seriously guys the DS to me always seems difficult to wheelie. Maybe I need to dial her in a bit more. I would like to stick to stock gearing if possible cause it's best of both worlds, but I did ride a DS with one tooth less front sprocket, twist throttle and TM45 carb (w/accel pump) and the bottom end was damn nice. Most impressive bottom end DS I ever rode.
FOr all you guys who might be wondering who's DS it was... it was that crazy DS jumper DSSTG1's....

Oh and Sandman that wasn't nice of you to do that to your son's eye you meanie. I think I got the 110's... I can't recall what I have. I wonder if Gary has it on file, Eric got me my replacement broken cam.

Entomber, I have noticed that richening the needle keeps giving me more bottom end. Measure where you have it set now and then start testing different settings until you dial in for entire power band. Your front end should be skyward. If too rich it wont idle barely aT ALL, I start from richest point to leanest, and make passes on a paved road so you can feel the hook up AND get it to PULL STRONG if you dont have a dyno around...... I got my lectron just about spot on @ a long paved road. ( BTW, I have a lectron 48 hv so I dont know how helpfull this may be) Good luck, let me know how she runs with needle 1 turn in, maybe more.

You know I'll try richening it a bit see what it yields.....it is defintely not skywards but thanks for the info... I will take tweak tomorrow. I guess I've reached my dialing in phaze... but it defintely pulls hard.
Now to tune...

Entomber,
The dialing in phase is MUCH MUCH nicer than where you were a month ago! It's all fun stuff from here on out. As you keep going & getting more and more ponies out of it you'll get a bigger and bigger grin. I have a feeling you'll be whooping your stage 3 buddy as soon as your quad is dialed in. Even if that 720 is less compression than it should be it should still pack some punch. Have you thought of running a compression test to see what compression you've actually got? You could always try running lower octane gas and see if it pings. If it wont ping on 87 octane then you've got (I would assume) near stock compression.

Eric suggested that I run pump gas, but I don't know I don't want to mess anything up. I spent a lot of time and money trying to get this thing going. I've never used a compression tester. Do I need an atv specific one or one at an auto store can suffice?
I really want to know what compression it is really at. It does feel strong at midrange to top, when I finally opened her up on some terrain that she can hook up I was like "wow... i think I can give marc (my bud) a run now". Just wanted more bottom. Maybe Gary sold me the wrong cams. I mentioned to him I want to retain bottom and he suggested a set that was good all around. It was a few months (2 -3 maybe) before I finally paid him, perhaps he forgot what I wanted. I'm sure most prefered race cams. Still it feels good. I can always drop a tooth right on the front sprocket can't I?

Entomber,
I'll email you a link to a gearing calculator so you can see approximatley what you would loose by dropping one tooth on the front sprocket. (about 3 - 4 mph on top, at most.) Basically, you'ed go from say, 80 mph to 76 mph and with the 15 tooth sprocket you'll get there a whole lot faster. I don't think there is any reason not to go to a 15 for most people. I suggest getting the good one from on-dunes.com it's $30 plus an extra $5 for the washer and it's made so well you wont have to worry about it becoming a problem.

I already have one from Rocky Mountain, it's been sitting on my desk for months now begging me to chainge it. Anyone know what size is that nut holding it in? I think I need to get a socket for that size.
