Same here. I way 230, my stage II is scarey on pavement, I sit on the tank and roll on the gas. It STILL lifts up. I can get it up moving just by cracking the throttle. On dirt it comes up plenty easy, I ride forward to keep it down when I am on the gas...
Its fun when I want it up..

Entomber,

I'm pretty sure the nut is 22mm. If you buy a couple at a large store like Sears or Home Depot you can buy a half dozen, use the one you actually need and return the rest. Be sure to clean everything very, very well before re-installing the sprocket. I got dirt in the gasket on my 2001 DS and now I have to change the gasket.

What is involved with that? What is the time to do that? Mine is fine but just wondering.

Gasket? Where is this gasket located? I would think there is a seal behind the countershaft sprocket.

MudStud,

I dunno, I've been putting it off. Actually you pull the sprocket, then on the f650 faq website it shows screwing a screw into the old gasket (carefully) then pulling out the old gasket & replacing it with the new one. It doesn't seem too difficult, I just have been too busy to do it. I'm not sure if when I pull the gasket if oil is going to spill out or not. I suppose if I read the FAQ on the F650 site I'll know.

I would either draine the oil or put the right side on blocks.

BH You may be a tad off there on the 22 MM I think it is closer to 36. If you have a good socket a 1,1/4" or 1,5/16" socket will get if off I cant remember wich now. It is a simple process for the 15 tooth, and I think for the 15 you dont have the pacer washer, just for the 14. First thing I did was get the nut busted loose. Mine was ape tight and remember to pound down the rises on the lock washer. Mine took a 3/4" ratchet with a 4 foot breaker bar and a crow bar in the rear sprocket against the swing arm to keep the motor from turning over. Then do the procedure to loosen your chain and take the old one off and clean it good then put the new sprocket back on. tighten down, adjust your chain tight and lube it. Your ready to go. The first time is the worst after that it takes 15 min to change them out. If you have an impact wrench the nut is much much easier to work with. I have never heard of the gasket problem.

It sounds to me like your rich. With my quad the leaner the meaner was deffinatly the case till I hit a point then it was a complete dog. If I wanted more top end I would go richer as a lean condition was good for lows to mids but top wasnt as strong. Might be different where your running a different carb and the 720 but with the lower compression I am thinking it will have the same characteristics. Just look at your plugs, if they are black at all your too rich, I liked mine at a nice brownish color to almost white.

I don't see the front end on my 04' Baja X come up when I punch the gas and click through the gears. It will come up if I give a little tug on the bars or maybe sit way back on the seat. But that's rare because I sit right up next to the gas tank. I'm 6' tall and 190-200 lbs. My bike is all stock except for a custom stainless endcap. I'm kinda glad it doesn't because I'm not infatuated with doing wheelies. Maybe I'm not "getting on it" correctly but I don't have a problem beating my buddy and his Raptor. Glad you are happy with your 720 Entomber and let us know when you whoop your Raptor buddy heheh.

Yardbird,

I'm the one with the Raptor lol, it's my other bike. That thing effortlessly pulls the front end up, which is cool on demand... bad news for drag racing.

My Dirtbike riding buddy came by today. Bugged the hell out of me to ride my 720. He isn't fond of the DS, prefers a Raptor but rode my new big bore and said "dude this thing is fast and strong".

Now onto my new problem which he pointed out and it basically dispelled a mystery. One of the things on putting this thing back together was that I noticed sometimes when I wicked the throttle it sounded like the thumb throttle was stuck and would rev up a bit. Well from what MrHP told me and and my buddy mentioned it.. the suction from the motor is sucking the slide towards it. It's making the thumb effort harder (it's butter smooth now until the motor is running) and can keep the throttle stuck in a slight increment. This is a big concern for me. I'm going to take MrHPs advice and try polishing the slide.

I just need to remember (or bug him via phone or e-mail) what kind of Sandpaper to use. I wonder if I can get by with a dremmel tool.

Oh and Demon... it does seem to run rich. I took the plugs out and they are charcoal colored. But it doesn't seem to want to start if I lean it out.
