I have the DS650 and it's a powerhouse. I came from a Warrior to this so it was a big step up. I'm a bigger guy at 6'2 200lb so the DS is a quad that I don't feel too big for. Test the DS or the new Yamaha/Honda 450's. The suzuki Z400 is sweet too.

I do a ton of woods riding and miss reverse sometimes. Your best bet is to make friends at the local pits and test other people's machines. Good Luck.....

Honestly the 400EX is a good platform to start on. I'd suggest keeping it, and just invest some time and money into it. It's alot cheaper, and unless your planning on racing in the higher classes, will work excellent for MX, and trail riding. It's one of the best handeling quads ever made, and there are tons of parts for it. One of my riding buddies has a 440EX, and a YFZ450. The 440 is actually faster off the start, and thru the midrange, then the yfz will catch and pass it. If you have to have something new, then I think either the YFZ, or TRX would both be excellent choices. If your a big guy, the DS is just plain awsome!!! It's got decent power stock, and plenty of room. I will say I like my 400EX better for MX though, but it's set up for it.

For MX, your 400 beefed up to a nicely tuned 440 would be awesome.

But like has already been stated, if you want something new, ride them all. It's free to check them out and then you can make a decision on experience rather than the opinions of other people. I love my DS. They have crazy HP ready to unwind with a few mods & tuning & they are tough as nails with a plush ride to boot. I've heard great things about both new 450s. The Z & KFX 400s, Raptors, KFX700s, Predators,,,,, All awesome quads.

In the end, there's more good choices now than Dolly Parton could shake her ******* at. But it would be fun to watch her try wouldn't it?

the 400 seems good for what you do, if you want more speed at it maybe a predator, and maybe even a raptor. but you could put some cash into the 400 and be happy.
