I love my RWR CDI I have misted shifts to and she still runs like a top. IMO I would not worry about over reving( with in reason) unless you flip it and the throttle sticks, but if we all were worried about that we would have tethers. any way Im glad the spectrom of CDI are getting wider. For god sakes we only had2-3 options at a high $$$ now they range from $99 to $500.

While the DS stock motor is hard to overrev, I can tell you that the stock piston will come in contact with the stock valves at 8500 RPM. That can cause a number of problems down the road. This includes weak and eventual bent valves. As soon as you start adding motor mods (ie Piston, cams, and valves springs) the potential of the motor to overrev goes up considerably. Valve float happens at 10,000 RPM in a typical stage II motor. If you float the valves, spring damage will occur. The result will be valve spring failure and bent valves, or the shims leaving thier buckets and being chewed up by the cams (I know, I've done this!). There's not much good power past 8500 RPM anyways. In most cases, it would simply be better to shift to the next gear. I think if you look at the multitude of dyno tests out there, you'll see a power drop at or around 8500 RPM.

i can remember ice racing and having it pinned in 3rd and 4th ( at the time no tach ) and just twisting the poor thing for a long time again and again as far as it would go, without any rev limiter. tough suckers those rotax's.

If you are going to use one with no limiter, make sure you check your screen in the oil tank rgularly.

If you over rev and don't have proper oil flow, your engine will look like mine did!

You can get the MSD from TVI, for $400, that's not much more than Woods.

Sandbomber, send yours back. They just sent me a new one cause mine was only producing spark from one plug wire.
