Default whats the big freakin deal?????

with everyone who says the ds650 is too big for trail riding? I took my ds on a twisty trail ride last week and I had no problems whatsoever. I don't know the exacy measurments, but how much wider is the ds than a raptor or a 400ex or whatever?? I love my ds, it is a great trail machine IMO, nice and smooth!!!!!!!!

No doubt, that's what the measurements say. And if I am flying through trails where that +-4' is gonna make me or break me then that isn't the place for me to begin with. Thats just what everyone cries about because thats all there is to cry about.

The only time I have run into any problems with the width of the ds is in tight trails between trees. I had afew times I had to go around when others went between the trees. The width doesnt bother me.

On the trails that i ride on my old DS's width didnt affect me at all. Whats the DS 50" wide, thats what most mx guys are running, XC guys are running a couple inches smaller. One of the big differences i see after switching to the 450r is that the DS sits quite a bit higher up meaning you have to lean more. Im 6'1" and when im sitting on the 450r i can have my feet flat footed all the ground. You just have to work alittle harder on the DS on twisty stuff but i didnt have any complaints with it.

i've only rode my ds in the tight woods a few times, all i did was edge up to a tree and let the rear tire spin it would slide right around. so if those guys that talk woods think they could ride really fast thru stuff that tight, i'll let them knock themselfs out, on a tree that is. i was riding with guys that really like that riding fast thru the woods they were good at it, but three totaled quads later they are now dune riders with me. motorcycles are for that kind of stuff

the trail I was on was mainly for dirtbikes, it was me on my ds, my brother on the 300ex, another kid on a Honda 4x4 and another guy on a KTM 250 dirtbike. the guy on the dirtbike and me were way ahead of the other guys, he couldn't pull away from me, nor could I pull away from him, and we were both trying too beat each other!!!!!!!!! I was very happy with my DS on the tight trails, one thing I didn't like though was in a few places there were some nasty rocks. any quad had to be carefull not to wreck something underneth, I coulda used some skidplates that day.

we weren't racing side by side, there were straight aways where we'd let each other pass, then when we got to another tight trail we'd tried and keep up with each other, I had no problem keeping up with him in the twisties!!
