Default Carbs Total Prices

I'm looking for total prices on putting a carb on a ds. Like everything to go from stock to the new one.
Like for the Lectron 46HV you need a diffferent throttle or work done to your throttle plus a cable. Thanks

I payed $405 for my mikuni TM45 with cable and all. The carb is $375 and that comes jetted to your mods, and the cable is $26 which u dont have to buy a thottle lever. Just bolt that one on and go. That price doesnt include shipping. Shipping would be around $15. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]Lance

Here is what the Lectron 46HV setup will cost you from MrHP.

Carb - $550
Billet Throttle - $125
Cable - $30
Ported Intake - $150

Definately not cheap but is dyno proven to give very good results.

You would need your intake ported with this also, not sure what everybody charges.

How hard is it now to port your own intake? someone has to share their secrets with us.... i have a dremmel.....

It takes more then a dremel, but u do use the dremel after you use the secret tool to port the intake.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]Lance

Secret tool? I used a carbide bit in my die grinder to remove the bulk of the material, then used a stone die to remove some finer material. After that I used a flap sander to smooth it out. Not too smooth, just to get the really ruff spots down.

So then.... I take off the intake.... wash it up...

then the point is to remove some of the walls to allow more airflow? as in the term ported?

make sure it is even all around thus to not create any air pockets I presume?

How smooth do you need it to be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pm me with a walkthrough if anyone could and I'd love it... Thanks much

Check out some of the pictures of a ported intake. Mister HP has some pics and some other people too. I would start out at the mouth of the intake, the inside profile should match that of the carb so it is a smooth transition from carb to intake. On the top side of the intake you will notice a protruding bubble, shape it so it blends in with the contours of the intake but be careful that the metal does not get too thin. Some people also try removing material from the sidewalls to create a straighter path of flow. The area in the center where it splits should be as sharp as possible. As far as smoothness goes, look how it is stock, it should be about that smooth. You don't want it polished obviously and you don't want it too ruff where it disrupts air flow.

OK thanks... I'll try it. Oh and does anyone have a stock intake lying around? I have a feeling I may need one. LOL
