alright, what is a mod quad end cap and also a procom CDI? Also, how would you jet to 172.5 main, and clip on bottom slot of needle? Sorry if it sounds ignorant, but I dont know much about the engine or performance, i just know about riding it. and if i cut off 4 coils off the front springs, that will lower the front end wont it? If it does, then wouldnt i need to do the same to the rear to make the ds level? yesterday i jumped a tabletop about 25 ft. long and got about 6 ft high and it bottomed out when i landed. wouldnt it be worse if i cut the coils?

The main is inside the float bowel, 4 phillips screws hold it on. And no.... bad.... Don't cut springs off the shocks. They are talking about the slide spring inside the carb. If you take off your seat there is a gold coloured cap with 2 screws. Then when u get that off, there is a spring. Under the diaphram there is the slide, and the needle. Search a thread entitled "jetting specs" thats my old one and bartlettracing did an awsome job explaning it all, as did a few others. Hope this helps.

www.on-dunes.com has alot of ds mods, most of what you have listed . I was wondering should i get 30% clutch or 60, i all dune ride, and some times drag.

If you hurry there is a mod quad endcap on ebay now here. You can also get one at on-dunes. It will be the cheapest hp gain you can get. There are jetting specs at the bottom of the page. I agree with the 15 tooth, but I would spend the money and buy a service manual from your dealer, or a cd version off of ebay. This way you can see how the carb works and fix your own stuff on the machine.

i really liked the springs for dune riding. those changes sam listed did me very well for a long time. didn't mr hp show where the spring cutting wasn't any good? well if he didn't i was watching that mod with other ds's around me and i didn't see any race differences, but then again it is hard for such a small mod to make a big diffence. i did the 17 first then the 15, and i feel unless you are a desert racer the 17 is to tall you'll use all that top speed very seldom, if at all. and in the dunes a stock machine will have a problem pulling the topend due to drag.

there are no dunes arond here that i know of, so all of my riding is either in the 1/8 or 1/4 mile and on trails. also, can someone point me in the direction of a thread abot jetting to 172.5. or is that done by cutting the 4 coils off the spring ?

Cutting 4 coils is done on the top of the carb, just remove the gold colored cap and the spring is right there. Changing the main jet is done from the bottom of the carb, remove the bowl and the main jet is the one that hangs the lowest and has a 165 on it.
