I thought all of you would be very interested in this webpage.

This guy has created a web based program that will aid you in figuring out top speed of any gear.

I'll tell you what's wrong with that thing... it's based on a street bike and that cycles gear ratios in the transmission. It will not work with any of the quads in these forums.

Try this gear ratio calculator: nightrider.com/biketech/calc_gearratios.htm. I'm estimating that the engine sprocket is 30 teeth and the clutch sprocket is 64 teeth, but I could be totally wrong on this. Transmission sprocket is 16 and rear wheel sprocket is 40. I don't know the individual gear ratios.

HP of the machine, frictional loses and drag coeffeicent of the body work and rider would also need to be considered for realistic results, especially for top speed determinations.

That one looks like it may work pretty well Scooby, has all the major bases covered. With accurate input values I think it would give pretty accurate results.

I need to figure out what the gear ratios are on the DS650. It has a constant mesh transmission. I have a parts catalog that shows all the gears and the number of teeth, but I can't figure out the gear ratios and primary reduction. How do I calculate this?

I was told that the F650 has the following gear ratios:

1st: 2.75
2nd: 1.75
3rd: 1.31
4th: 1.05
5th: 0.88

Final: 2.94 (2.5 for DS650)
Primary: 1.946 (37/72)

These might not be the same as the DS650.
