Default 2002 Baja DS 650 low power

Hi guys. My bro has the '02 Baja, and I rode it for the first time the other day on asphalt. There appears to be something wrong with the power. Should it be able to pull a wheelie in 2nd gear without using the clutch, on asphalt. I was expecting a lot more power from it. He has been having a charging problem, lately, so maybe his battery isn't supplying enough voltage to the ignition, but it wasn't cutting out at high RPM, as that would indicate. The power just kind of leveled off when you hit the higher RPM's, no running rough, or missing at all. He said he was racing it our in Glamis and was doing real well, and then, all of the sudden, he was getting beat by 400cc machines. Has anyone else had this problem? Help please!

It's stock. Hey Quadaddiction, what's the niddle, and are you talking about a diaphram? Do you have a picture of what the part looks like? Thanks for the info!

have you checked your diaphram? mine was down on power and i found it had a small hole in it, if you want a cheap fix for that, put a lil bit of duct tape on it, and use a heat gun to heat it up a lil

If you are checking the carb out make sure to see if there are any plugged jets, check that the Needle (not niddle) still has the clip on it and that the diapham is seated properly. Any vac leak around the diapham will result in a loss of power.
Has this been apart lately? If so maybe something didn't get back togather right.
Is there oil blowing out the crankcase vent? check the compression. I had a ring go out and noticed a big power drop but still run fine, just not the same power.
Have you checked the Spark Plugs? If they get fouled you will loose power.
Is the air filter clean?

Keep trying, seach past threads for more ideas.
