DS wheels, DULL??
#1
My 04 ds wheels are dull and look crap what is on them is it paint or just a clear coat or is the alloy just poorly finished.
has any one tried polishing them to see how they come out.
These are the standard viper wheels not the reinfoced ones.

Try to use brasso or duraglit. I like duraglit because it comes in a can with its own applicator. then use a cotton cloth to wipe clean. Should do the trick.

Thanks i take it there is no coating on them then, i will try polishing them up.
The DS is working out great I love it, It did take a bit of getting used to compared to the R bigger heavier more traction ect.
but now i am used to it its the best thing i have ridden. I loaned it to a friend with a 400 ex and while i was on his bike it felt real small.
I am going to change the ds bars for a set of straighter renthals to help with weight over the front for hill climbing and im still fiddiling with jetting.
So far so good

The stock wheels are powder coated then clear coated. The aluminum underneath the paint is dull as heck. I stripped then polished my stock wheels. For the hours worth of labor, to strip and polish I could have bought a set of new rims. Kept my busy though.

I thought there was somthing on them?
I have a set of douglass .160 for the back but they have my paddels on them.
Did u take the rubber off to strip them ?
How was the finish once they were polished ?
And does it hold up well or does it oxidise quickly. Do you regret it or would you do it again.
You must be due your machinist friend a lot of favors by now. He has made you some nice parts
do you know what size the OD of the cooler tube was or the ID of the hoze ?
