On the left side of your dash as your sitting on your machine, theres an cap, thats were you fill it. I drain mine from the crankcase(bottom bolt), oil tank(black thing up front under hood), and remove my oil lines from tank to motor. You dont need to take them off if you flush with a quart of oil. Remove the filter, right side of machine 3" round housing mid motor, replace and good to go. I use honda hp4 no moly, semi-synthetic. Good luck!

i just got my service manual on ebay for 5 bucks (on cd rom, there are also hard copy books, but they run 20-50)

seems pretty nice, just uses adobe to open the PDF files which are broken down into different sections.

Ricky, I see you have a 2000 DS, you will have to bleed the system also. With the the oil filter out, ( and new oil in) look inside the oil filter housing you will see a large flat head screw, get the biggest screwdriver you can find and loosen it, it is usually pretty tight, with your kill switch on, crank it over a couple of times until you see oil coming out, then tighten it up, this works best when you have a spark plug out, but you can do it either way. Good luck.
That Honda oil is good, Yamalube is cheaper by me and it works great also.

I don't think you have to bleed to 2001, they have a return line on the oil inlet that also works as a vent so you don't get the air pockets like the 2000's. IF you start it after an oil change and the red light comes on, you may have to bleed it.

I have never needed to bleed mine after a oil change. the light stays on for a second or two then shuts off. I did need to bleed it after a really wild wheelie though I think it got a air bubble in it. I could not get the bleeder lose it was really tight. I was told to take the return line off the oil tank and roll it over in short spurts to push the air bubble out and walla the red light shut off.
