Default Gas Cap Cover??

Hey, everyone I just got my DS a week ago. I have been noticing that my DS some times won't start. When it dosen't start I take off the gas cap and let the vapors of the gas out, and it makes a sound like air is seeping out as I turn the cap to come off. Then I close it and it will then start. Every other quad that I have seen in the past has a little hose comeing off the cap. I was wondering if I should have that hose, because when I bought it, it had a cover so there was no hose if u know what mean... Do you think I should drill a hole in the cap a and install a hose there? please help me! thanx

there is a breather tube built into the gas tank, sounds like yours is clogged.

You can check your breather by removing the cap and blowing on the tube. If air won't go than your breather it pinched.

They put like 20' of breather tubing on the tank.

The end of the breather tube should be down in front of your left knee, close to the radiator, right?

The best thing to do is buy a vented cap and get rid of the stock breather tube. It is a pain and it lest gas leak out of it anyways. A good vented cap and a freeflo tube is a much better setup. I just go tires of gas coming out of the stock breather tube.

It does sound like yours is pinched or pluged though. The tube raps around the tank and usually is up by the oil tank on the left side.

Do they make a plastic cap with a breather that fits the DS or do you have to run a alum cap?

All I have seen with a spot for the breather tube is an alum one.
