Default Any DS-Days Updates?

that honda was sick i raced it several times, it was within 2 bikes either way, i lost to it once with tim on it, and it might have been better with riders that could ride it good. it crashed once. hope i'm not hurting anyones thinking but i think me, tvi turbo and jeff were the only ones that could run down the honda, that thing was light. jeff and i raced a lot it was fun everytime the first was the best we both went thru the whoops side by side and in wheelies ity was a great race, we both had the 10 paddle haulers he got me at the top by 4-5, he went and switch to 8 paddle and that gained him about 4 more lengths, i'll have a pair for next year. jeff was great we talked a lot of shop, engine wise i feel i'm there i just need to rework a lot of weight and rotating mass, the ultra tires will be there next year the 190 haulers probably didn't help. talked a lot of nitrous he gave me a lot of ideas, think i'm going to need them for the turbo's next year, for the most part they were getting blasted by us thru the whoops but they come on like a bullet, if the hill is long enough they will chase you down, when they pass it will be at about 15 mph faster, the way we won is we ran out of hill. i just edged the turbo raptor, there was a turbo 727, that edged me at the top. i raced the 730 mr hp 730, engine to engine, dsviper rode it he is about 30 pounds lighter than me so with the extras that baja had i'd say the weight was about the same, he edged me out on top, i lead all the way but his gearing was a he had a little higher top speed i'd say there almost the same on power. i'll let the other give there take , all i can say is it was a lot of fun, couple of my home town riding buddies came so the guys got a dose of the nitrous powroll raptor, he beat a r-1 raptor, but the guy didn't have a swingarm it was funny to watch. and the other guy brought his busa turbo mini rail. so we all had fun. meet so many people and saw other from last year, it was just fun. little sandman is going to be getting in on the nitrous with us then he'll be in the hunt with us on the 440. he actually got a few races in on the 720 on the smooth side , the whoops were to much for him almost rolled so we think more time is needed.

Default Any DS-Days Updates?

Just got back and what a weekend. Thanks to all the guys who helped install the turbo on my ds. I didn't get it done till sunday at 3 pm and the clutch was slipping a little even with the 60% clutch springs but wwoooooooowwwww!!!! even with the clutch problems I could baby it through the gear and the woops and then get into 4th gear and hit the rev limiter and catch most bikes. I only ran it for about an hour at the hill. Everything on the bike is stock except the efi and turbo. I had it set at 6lbs boost and ran 110 gas. blackhawk and bajaturbo took a ride on it so they can give their feelings. Kelly at KMS had it set a little rich to ensure no overheating. Kelly guessed the 6lbs boost raised the hp to 65. The looks on people face as they fought to keep their 10 bike lead was priceless. At about 3/4 hill I would pass them and be gaining speed still.

It was great getting to know everyone a little better. I will be at St anthony on saturday 9/11 if anyone is interested.

Once again thanks to everyone for all the help.

DOWNSIDE TO THE TURBO: it uses a lot of gas. Anyone have a desert tank laying around???

Tell little sandman not to worry about rolling - I rolled the 440 -- ahem, one of the days ..... I just cant remember which day that was! LOL

I had a good time. Everyone was very good. I will say that the atmosphere is more towards my style than the 4 Str0ke Wars two years ago. Everyone was helping each other more, and most of the competition was directed at getting your own quad faster than it was. I did the dyno thing there and got the 440 at 39.7 hp.

And to those naysayers that thought I was going to get eaten alive with my little bitty 400EX (SEAN!) by every single DS there..... NOT! Even had a little fun towing out some diesels with my Dune Wagon!

Im sorry I missed Ron's apple pie - but I was making my own mix next door - If anybody wants some, Im sure its still there right next to where I slept - er passed out - whatever!

capewindy's mrhp 730 wasn't up to par the last two days. I think it is alot stronger than it showed. I was super impressed with Dsslueths ds. He needs to pipe in on his stock bore motor. we swapped bikes so he could try the turbo and it was smooth. I know slueths motor is a tvi product but that is all I remember. Sandman430, where were you staying at camp. I can't put a face with ya. Did anyone else think it was funny calling people blackhawk, majorecho, dssleuth etc. It was like some kind of heros convention with crazy names. It would make things alot simpler if we were as smart as jeff. ex. jeffnrivercity. I wish I could have got more first names attached to forum names.

Schwendi, were you running the candy orange DS. That was a fast bike. Out of the hole and through the woops it really flew. I don't think many kept up.

I just wanted to say one more thing .. I like where this event is located. I realize it's probably too far out for a lot of folks; but for us out west, its very centrally located between all the Western states. It was a 10 hour drive for me, but that is much better than going to Glamis. While the hill pretty much one of 3 or 4 areas to see there, the sheer size of the main drag dune was impressive. The parking area is large and the vendor row was excellent (20 bucks to ride there was probably too much - but hey - if it keeps it open I can live with that).

Oh, That motel, The Holiday Inn Express was very good - only $79 a night! Good Breakfast, HUGE bed, 3 HBO Channels, Free internet access for your laptop, and a HUGE Shower - plus a pool and a hot tub. It was only 20 miles from Sand Mountain. (Casino right next door too!).

Sorry sandman430, I was only right beside ya. Those darn forum names. You definitely had one of the faster Ds's out this weekend. Ill let ya know how the clutch looks when I take it down. I still wonder if something is up with the actuator or those teeth you were talking about.
