did he say if you could get one inserted and how much? I'm also looking into a 48 much similar to yours

Default Lectron "HV" identification?

I was thinking - back when I was getting my Lectron dialed in and I was talking with Eric on the phone a few times the topic of HV vs. non HV came up at one point (since there were a lot of posts about this at the time) and he was telling me that the standard Lectron has some taper, so a little taper does not make it a HV even though it is tapered to some degree; a 'true' HV has a machined insert pressed into the front of the carburetor. Apparently some people had been trying to pass the non HV style Lectrons off as HVs for a higher price. (Capitolism at it's best, right?) If you have trouble posting pics I can direct you to a few free hosting places like hpphoto.com that will host up to 100mb of pics for free. I'd like to see what this carburetor looks like, just to compare it with mine.

1BADRAPTOR,

As far as stiffness - the cable route made all of the difference, as far as the amount of force used to push the throttle I've noticed as I richen it up (it runs better) it is easier to push as well. The best routing I found (as suggested by Eric) is just directly up the left frame rail of the DS, then out in front of the Gas tank. I made sure it is not pinched anywhere, and the routing is so 'easy' on the cable it doesn't route 'though' anything. IE: I could remove the carburetor, cable and thumb lever all atached - I don't recall the exact layout of a Raptor but I'd bet you could do something similar. Send me a PM with your email and I can mail you the pictures that Eric sent to me; obviously they are not going to work exactly for your Raptor but it will give you a good idea of what you are trying to achieve.

Also, something you can do to test the throttle pull - get a fish scale and see approximately how many lbs. of force it takes to move your throttle lever. This isn't scientific, and it isn't entirely accurate but it is effective in showing change. A stock DS takes about 3 lbs. of force to move, my Lectron when I had it routed poorly too 7 lbs. My Lectron now takes about 4.
