Default Help! New Tach now wont run

This is my first post here. I have learned alot just reading the threads.

Heres my problem. 05 DS Viper, I just installed a new tach and now it wont start. I double checked
All the connections still wont start. I did make one mistake installing it by connecting the wire from
the ignition coil on the wrong side, I connected it to right side coil instead of the left. When I tried to start it
it fired for about a second and quit. I disconnected all of the tach connections and reconnected all the wires.
No spark. Is it possible that I screwed up the coil or something?

It's pretty tight under the dash. More likely you pulled out one of the pin connectors just enough to where the contact isn't made.

Check your fuses in case something tripped.

Default Help! New Tach now wont run

You were right DuneMe, Found a loose connection. But now I have another problem, I got spark and it wouldnt start
so I pulled the plugs and they were wet. It kept flooding out. Next I pulled the carb and checked the float level it was about 5mm
from the mating surface so I adjusted it to 10mm (about even with the bowl mating surface). I guess I must have bent the tab
when I rejetted it to a 170. Heres the problem, It doesnt start as easily and when it starts it snaps and pops if you try to give it any gas when you first start it. After a few minutes it smooths out and runs fine. Any ideas? Im running a Mr. Hp cap and a no toil filter other
wise its stock. The bike is only a few months old.

You prolly figured this out by now. But you should never do but one mod at a time. Even if it's only an end cap or tac. Makes trouble shooting easier if needed. Sounds like you need to adjust your needle clip position. Your prolly in some pretty colds temps today. I would start with the clip in the middle position and then work your way rich. Also the pilot screw may need some attention. Start out at 3 /12 turns out from the seated position. And then turn out as needed from there.

Sorry to come in with a question instead of an answer.
But am i right that you fitted a tach to the viper, I see i have a multi plug behind the dash that looks like its for pluging a tach right into, is that right?
Also how much was the tach and was it the Bombardier one you bought?

Actually you dont use that multi-plug. Instead you plug the white wire from the ignition switch into the tach then
you install the ground wire to the mounting bolt on the left side ignition coil. I can scan the instructions for you and
email it to you. It was easy to install with exception of cutting the hole for the tach. I used a compass with both points
being metal so I could scribe the hole. Then I took a dremmel tool with a cutting bit and carefully cut out the hole just
short of the line, Then I took a sander bit and finished it up. I think that multi-plug is for auxillery lights. Somebody
correct me if Im wrong. The tach cost me about $150.00 from Bombardier. PM your address and I will send it to you.
